Already two people on my friends list have posted about having their flights canceled by the snowstorms in Dallas. That really sucks, I thought. I hope nothing happens to our flights home tomorrow, I thought. And then it hit me-- WE'RE flying into Dalls tomorrow!!!!! D: D:

Yeah, supposedly we're on a flight departing Tokyo tomorrow at 1 PM and arriving in Dallas at 11:20 AM on the 27th. I really, really, really hope everything'll be ok. :-/

RooG has totally commandeered my Layton and therefore my DS as well. But that's ok cos until yesterday I was reading a kickass book-- The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri. It was soooo good! After I finished reading it, I Googled it and found that there's a movie version too. I watched the trailer for the movie. I'm glad I read the book first. D:

JANUARY
Spent New Year's here in Japan, watching the Gaki no Tsukai special and counted down the new year with the villagers in Animal Crossing. :P On New Year's Day we went to the big park in Maioka and just sat around and listened to the birds. Had a shinnenkai with some friends, and tried aerobics for the first time. We found a baby bat in the dojo sink and brought him home and nursed him back to health, only to have him get eaten by a giant bird as soon as we relased him. Whoops. Participated in the kagamibiraki geiko put on by the World HQ dojo. Watched the inauguration. Participated in the kagamibiraki geiko put on by my own dojo.

FEBRUARY
Tried for a second time pass the test to become 3kyu at karate, and failed on a stupid nitpicky mistake, again. I finally met Amy (who'd been an LJ friend for a while) and she introduced me to all her awesome friends. Passed Level 2 of the JLPT. Went to Tokyo Disneyland!

Amy was the first guest ever to be permitted into our shithole!


MARCH
Went to super-tough training at the dojo for the first time, and held my own! yay! Baked brownies from scratch for the first time. My job as a junior/ senior high school teacher ended, thus beginning a long period of (intended) unemployment.

APRIL
Got creamed in the first round of the Zen-Kanto tournament by this super strong black belt chick, but Yasumoto-senpai walked away champion, and I was really happy for him. (He looked damn sexy doing it too! mamacita!) Had a stellar birthday party, including chocolate fondue! Went to Thailand for two weeks, all by myself! A scary but awesome experience. I can't wait to go back. I spent the two weeks going on adventures (elephant sanctuary, zipcording in the jungle, bike tour etc) and getting massages.

At the Night Safari in Chiang Mai. A little boy came up to me, selling those jasmine garlands around my neck. It was only 40 baht and I felt sorry for the boy so of course I bought one. But they smelled so amazing-- it was like 24/7 aromatherapy. I ended up buying a fresh one every morning and wearing it all day long. My Lush Flying Fox temple balm is very jasmine-y, and it's the closest approximation to the smell of those garlands, but it's not quite the same...

One of the gifts I received for Christmas this year was an Xbox360 wireless network adapter, so I can go online now with the living room boat anchor. I've talked to various people who are all like "blahblahblah we should play together on live!" and I could never do that before.

My laptop's a MacBook Pro 13-inch custom

and my desktop computer's a Mac Pro custom

They became the strongest.

I used the old ones for quite a long time and they were in bad condition

such as losing important data

Sir Ima◯, our mechanic at the office, is in the middle of adjusting the settings of my desktop computer

so I don't have it with me yet.

I want to work in good conditions.
